Fisherman's Friends are one of the UK’s most distinctive and enduring musical success stories, rising from humble beginnings on the harbour wall in Port Isaac to become global ambassadors for traditional maritime folk music.​

Formed by a group of lifelong friends singing sea shanties to raise money for local causes, their powerful harmonies and authentic spirit quickly drew crowds far beyond their Cornish home. In 2010, they made history as the first traditional folk act to achieve a UK Top 10 album with a major record deal, with their debut release going on to be certified Gold. Since then, they have released ten albums, built a fiercely loyal following, and performed to audiences across the UK and around the world.​

Renowned for their rousing and heartfelt live shows, they have appeared on some of the country’s most iconic stages, including Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, the Royal Albert Hall and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, as well as major international tours. Their story has resonated far beyond music, inspiring two hit feature films and a hugely successful stage musical, which toured theatres across the UK and brought their journey to a whole new audience.​

Their international appeal continues to grow, with a fully sold-out debut tour of Australia in 2026 marking a major milestone. That same year, they return to Cornwall to launch their own three-day music festival, celebrating folk, shanty and contemporary music alongside local culture, crafts and community — a natural extension of everything the band represents.​
